The Story Behind

In 1974, after a three year break from the music industry, Clapton decided to release a solo album, put together a band, and tour the U.S. The album’s name, 461 Ocean Boulevard, refers to the Miami, Florida house Clapton stayed in during the recording. Its hit song “I Shot The Sheriff,” by Bob Marley and the Wailers, became Clapton’s first #1 solo hit. With fans so eager to see Slowhand perform again live, the first 30 days of the 1974 tour he performed 22 times!
