History of “All That Glitters...”
This artwork was famously used on a 2017 PRIMUS gigposter. Jermaine subsequently released the image of the trippy bear-figure as a fine art print. Pictured here is a DEFACED copy of the art print, a term coined by Jermaine Rogers to denote a one-of-a-kind, hand-embellished piece, after he has intentionally "vandalized" a standard screen-printed poster or test print. Rogers uses an "extreme form of embellishment" to add elaborate, graffiti-like drawings, scribbles, and washes across the original image.
Regarding the term 'DEFACED', Jermaine says: 'I officially called them DEFACED prints because the new artwork basically obliterated the art underneath and usurped the original form and function of the print. Part of it was rebelling against this idea of crafting perfect, pretty images...i think it's one of the purest forms of art I do. It isn't meticulously plotted and planned. It is what it is...whatever comes out at that moment.'
