The Story Behind

“My goal was to portray the immense presence of Christopher Wallace, moving beyond a single, over-familiar image. I synthesized elements from various photographs to create a unique depiction, choosing a pose that aligned with my artistic vision for this print. This piece marks a significant step, as it's my first to blend typography and illustration — two strands of my practice. The result was super compelling and I plan to explore this combination much more with future projects. The opening lyrics of 'Juicy' felt essential, not as a personal favorite, but as a tribute to Ready To Die's 30th anniversary. This iconic line, deeply ingrained in popular culture, complements the pose and the contemplative, almost hazy mood I aimed to capture. The typographic design and its outlines serve to segment the composition; the font choice for the word 'Dream' pays homage to the famous Versace logo, as Biggie was well known for wearing Black Medusa shades.”
